With branches in Rockhampton, Mackay and Barcaldine and a site office in Emerald, the Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Central Queensland Region (CQ Region) looks after 9076km of state-controlled roads and about 1510km of the National Road Network. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).
The CQ Region covers an area of about 604,824km2, approximately 34.9% of Queensland. Its landscape ranges from beautiful coastal areas adjoining the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests to the rugged outback with breath-taking rock formations. The region has an estimated residential population of 422,141 people.
Key responsibilities:
In the role of Senior Project Engagement Adviser you will lead, manage, and coordinate stakeholder engagement and communications services and initiatives to support delivery of the current and future needs of Queensland Transport and Road Investment Program (QTRIP), specifically in the Mackay/Whitsunday District.
You will also support the District Leadership Team, providing high level engagement, media, and strategic advice on a range of engagement activities, displaying high-level communication skills, that are forward-facing with a direct line to the communities we serve.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Provide expert communication and community engagement advice to project and executive leadership teams, to manage complex issues and communication challenges, including identifying and mitigating risks. Develop, mentor, and lead a team of stakeholder engagement and communication specialists in the district and contribute to the function's community of practice. Provide training, advice and support to regional staff, consultants, and contractors to enhance engagement and communication skills for delivering projects and initiatives to acceptable time and quality standards, within the agreed framework. Develop, implement, and evaluate complex communication and community engagement strategies on high profile and sometimes contentious projects to tight timeframes and within budget. Develop high quality and effective communication tools and key messaging that aligns with program and TMR priorities and meets accessibility, governance, and brand management requirements. Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including other government agencies, electorate representatives, local councils, and contractors to ensure TMR achieves its goals. Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
A minimum of 5 years of external stakeholder engagement and communications experience. Current holder of a "C" Class Driver's licence. Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role. Desirable qualifications and conditions:
Tertiary qualifications in communications or a similar discipline (IE engagement related) will be highly regarded. IAP2 or equivalent training in community engagement. How to apply:
