The role: Combine your insurance expertise and love for animals as our Senior Product & Underwriting Analyst – Pet Insurance.
Lead innovative insurance solutions for pet owners, ensuring pets receive the care they need.
Shape and deliver a cutting-edge pet insurance solution aligned with Auto & General's risk strategy.
Oversee end-to-end product lifecycle activities, including product management and underwriting.
Monitor portfolio performance, improve customer value and service, and maintain clear product documentation.
Your contributions to risk selection, product development, and portfolio management are crucial.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including our underwriting agency, PHIS, to optimise the product lifecycle and maximise value delivery.
Accountabilities: Product and Underwriting Assist in developing new and enhancing existing Pet Insurance solutions.
Contribute to the development and implementation of product strategies, including responses to regulatory requirements.
Manage underwriting rules and guidelines, ensuring the integrity of the underwriting engine.
Continuously improve on the robustness of the pet insurance risk selection process to achieve A&G business goals and desired customer outcomes.
Regularly review and enhance underwriting criteria, such as age and breed of the insured pet.
Design and implement appropriate underwriting governance and controls.
Manage product documents including Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), Target Market Determination (TMD), and review other customer documents including online contents.
Collaborate closely with the Lifestyle Pricing team to continuously improve rating sophistication and competitiveness.
Research, review and monitor Australian market pet insurance landscape, including trends and movements in risk selection, product offering, customer preference, and regulatory changes.
Actively engage with and support Customer Dispute Resolution, Legal & Compliance teams, including timely reporting, investigation, resolution and remediation of any product related incidents.
Assist the GM-Lifestyle in ensuring timely delivery of Pricing & Underwriting Committee agenda items and action items.
Portfolio Monitoring Develop, implement, and monitor key performance metrics of the pet insurance portfolio.
Provide oversight and early intervention to ensure the achievement of business objectives, including early identification of emerging trends.
Business & Change Management Assist with continuous improvement of the pricing/underwriting engine and related IT infrastructure projects.
Define and implement initiatives to improve Quote and Sales journey and the overall customer experience.
Oversee and contribute to comprehensive User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process to ensure proper implementation of product and underwriting related changes.
Monitor and report on the progress of projects and initiatives, including taking corrective actions where necessary and assisting with post-implementation reviews.
Skills & experience: 3+ years pet insurance experience in product development, underwriting, portfolio management, pricing, or claims.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of pet insurance trends and best practices in relation to product features and benefits, underwriting rules, guidelines and rating methodologies, including drivers and levers of profitable growth.
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g.
business, economics, commerce, finance, law, actuarial science and/or professional qualification (e.g.
ANZIIF) preferred.
Sound numerical and analytical skills to monitor and interpret insurance portfolio data.
High commercial acumen and the ability to think strategically as well as a sound understanding of business processes, operational challenges and drivers.
Working knowledge of legislative and compliance frameworks relating to financial services.
IT literacy and the ability to learn new systems, including medium skills in Microsoft Excel.
Proven ability to build constructive and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
