This includes ensuring that electoral procedures are followed and supervising staff at the polling location.After 6 PM, the title of the Presiding Officer changes to Assistant Returning Officer.Dates: 8th March 2025 and In-person training (Date to be confirmed) (approx. 2 days work - weekend work only)Level: 5Assistant Presiding OfficerAssistant Presiding Officers are appointed to assist the Presiding Officer as needed. They help manage personnel, election resources, and the polling place, including taking on the role of Substitute Presiding Officer when required.After 6 PM, they assist the Assistant Returning Officer in overseeing the counting and reconciliation process.Dates: 8th March 2025 and In-person training (Date to be confirmed) (approx. 2 days work - weekend work only)Level: 3Declaration OfficerThe Declaration Officer issues declaration votes on polling day to electors who are not on that district's electoral roll. They will complete the reconciliation of declaration envelopes in accordance with the relevant manuals and training received.Dates: 8th March 2025 and In-person training (Date to be confirmed) (approx. 2 days work - weekend work only)Level: 1.3Early Presiding OfficerEarly Presiding Officers manage personnel, election resources, and the polling place, ensuring that electoral procedures are followed.Dates: 24th February until 7th March 2025 (approx. 11 days work - weekend & weekday work)Level: 5Early Assistant Presiding OfficerThey assist the Early Presiding Officer as needed and help manage personnel and election resources.Dates: 24th February until 7th March 2025 (approx. 11 days work - weekend & weekday work)Level: 3Early Issuing / Counting OfficerThis role involves issuing ballot papers and assisting with the packing up of election resources.Dates: 24th February until 8th March 2025 (approx. 11 days work - weekend & weekday work)Times: 7.30 am - 6.00 pm (24th February - 7th March) and 5.00 pm - 12.00 am (8th March 2025)Level: 1.3Assistant Returning OfficerThey count votes and tally results at designated counting locations.Times: 5.00 pm - 12.00 amLevel: 5Mobile Presiding OfficerThis role involves managing mobile polling at various facilities.Dates: Between 23rd February and 8th March 2025 (3 days work - weekends/weekday)Level: 5Mobile Issuing OfficerThey issue ballot papers and assist the Mobile Presiding Officer.Dates: 23rd February till 8th March 2025 (3 days work - weekends/weekday)Level: 1.3Remote Presiding OfficerThey manage mobile polling at remote locations, including Aboriginal communities.Dates: 22nd February until 8th March 2025 (approx. 10 days work - weekends/ weekdays)Level: 5Remote Issuing OfficerThey issue ballot papers and assist the Remote Presiding Officer.Dates: 22nd February till 8th March 2025 (approx. 10 days work - weekend/ weekdays)Level: 1.3Returning Officer AssistantThis role involves assisting the RO with higher-level duties.Dates: March 2025 (approx. 4 days work - may require weekend and weekday work)Level: 1.3Returning Officer General AssistantThey assist with the receipt, sorting, and distribution of materials to Presiding Officers.Dates: Between 22nd February and 11th March 2025 (approx. 4 days work - weekends and weekday)Level: 1.1**PLEASE NOTE - for specific information about pay, please visit our website and refer to the appropriate level of the role you are applying for.**If you're excited about playing a vital role in the electoral process, apply now!We look forward to welcoming you to join us in making a difference in our community!Please note that you will be contacted directly by the WA Electoral Commission (WAEC) in the first instance if you are shortlisted for this role.
