Base salary will be in the range $130,046 - $137,525 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 9)

About This Opportunity
This position ensures the University meets its statutory and tax obligations by supporting compliance efforts, reviewing legislative changes, and preparing necessary financial reports.
Key responsibilities will include:
Prepare annual and quarterly consolidated financial statements for the University and affiliated entities, ensuring compliance with AIFRS, DEEWR, and Queensland Treasury guidelines.
Provide expert advice on indirect tax matters, including GST, FBT, and payroll tax, to mitigate the University's exposure.
Coordinate tax filings, including monthly BAS and annual FBT returns, and maintain accurate reconciliations.
Conduct audits, train finance officers, and update policies as needed based on current tax regulations.

About You
Postgraduate qualifications (preferably in finance related profession), or extensive experience and management expertise in the related profession, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated sound knowledge of current ATO legislation, regulations and applications, including detailed knowledge of GST and FBT and its application to hospitality and other employee benefits.
Demonstrated substantial experience in the use of computerised accounting and administrative systems for the extraction of data and appropriate reporting.
Demonstrated experience in researching and identifying the impacts of taxation and other legislation and regulations on corporate operations.
Demonstrated sound experience in the preparation of Business Activity Statements.
Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills, with experience in meeting deadlines and working with diverse stakeholders.
Commitment to the provision of quality client service and the ability to work within a team environment.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check etc.
