The Senior Legal Counsel is supported by three Legal Counsel who are technical specialists in Property, Infrastructure, and Planning and Environment Court litigation, enjoying a vibrant culture with talented lawyers and supportive paralegals.Make a name for yourself and value our community, working on key assets, projects, and development across the city, collaborating with a connected team, contributing to a better Brisbane. Your talent will shine, providing high-level professional strategic legal advice across a range of critical planning, environment, infrastructure, and property matters for Council and its subsidiary companies.To be successful, you will bring:the ability to lead the delivery of legal services on a wide range of critical and sensitive planning, environment, and property related issues inclusive of complex infrastructure related matters, planning policy strategy, property acquisitions and disposals and litigation strategy in the Planning and Environment Court and Court of Appealdemonstrated responsibility and accountability for the performance and outcomes of the team with respect to corporate deliverables and branch performance against established corporate, performance and business outcomescapability and skills to actively participate in branch management and strategic directionsignificant expertise and experience in planning and environment and property lawaptitude in the legislative framework within which Council operatesexperience in managing a high volume of litigation, advisory and transactional filesadvanced verbal, written, negotiation and relationship management skills, including enhancing working relationships with elected officials, CEO, senior management and key stakeholdersaptness to lead organisational performance and growth, delivering coordinated, responsive, and customer-focused outcomes.Who We AreWe are committed to responsibly managing the city on behalf of its residents and strive to deliver the highest standards of service and community experience for all of Brisbane by offering a vibrant, green, and prosperous lifestyle, fostering opportunity, innovation, and sustainability.
