About the Roles
As a Senior Lawyer at QLeave, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality legal advice, managing key legal projects, and supporting the development of the Legal Services team. Reporting to the Manager, Legal Services, you will oversee a range of legal matters, including statutory interpretation, administrative law, regulatory compliance, and contractual and commercial work.
Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will:Provide expert written and verbal legal advice to QLeave staff on a broad range of issues, including statutory interpretation, administrative law, regulatory activities, investigations, and contracts.Research complex legal issues, review draft correspondence, and make sound, evidence-based recommendations.Support QLeave's Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy obligations.Assist with updates to QLeave's delegation manual, reciprocal arrangements, and legal agreements.Undertake risk management and quality assurance for contracts, memorandums of understanding (MOUs), and administrative review processes.Identify and address emerging issues and risks, providing mitigation strategies to the Manager, Legal Services.Represent QLeave in legal proceedings, including the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission, Industrial Magistrates Court, and other tribunals as required.Manage a small caseload for civil litigation and criminal prosecutions, including the preparation of court documentation.Supervise, mentor, and build the capability of other Legal Services team members.Contribute to the development of legal guidance resources and deliver training to QLeave staff.Build and sustain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to foster a cooperative approach to achieving QLeave's strategic priorities.

Mandatory qualification:
Admission as a solicitor or barrister of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
