About the role Reporting to the Support Coordinator, the Housing Support Worker is primarily responsible for providing case management services to assist households in crisis to access and sustain suitable housing within the Housing Programs team.
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
Actively commit to and perform work in accordance with quality standards and continuous improvement; identify and communicate improvement opportunitiesLegislation compliance and regulations affecting the position;Empowering participants to obtain and sustain long-term housing outcomes.Utilising motivational interviewing techniques and trauma informed practices to inform approach to all aspects of the work.Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.This role contributes as an integral member of the Housing Services team and supports all activities aligned with the strategic direction and consistent with the mission and values of Churches of Christ.
This position also entails home visits and providing mobile support to families within crisis accommodation.
Location is based across Brisbane, Logan and, Ipswich regions. About you The ideal candidate will be self-reflective and have critical thinking skills while continuously remaining highly organised.
The ability to support people with a focus on housing and tenancy sustainment.
Conducting assessments of a person's situation and support needs, including risk assessments.
Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and contributing to positive outcomes for families is highly regarded.
Ability to develop networks and collaborative relationships with external providers.
Your qualifications and experience should include:
Diploma qualification in Community Service with substantial relevant experience commensurate with the role requirements, or a degree qualification with two years' relevant experience;1 year experience in Social Work;A current driver's license is essential;Ability to work collaboratively with other staff in contributing to the development of work goals openly and honestly;Ability to work autonomously to deliver team outcomes and objectives;Experience working with people from diverse, social and economic disadvantaged backgrounds;Current National Police and Working with Children (Blue Card) check or the ability to acquire is essential.Importantly, you will be someone who closely aligns with our organisational values of: Unconditional Love, Continual Innovation, Mutual Trust and Wise Stewardship.
