Eden Ritchie Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Specialist to join a large Government department.As the Senior Health and Safety Specialist, you will:
Provide critical advice on WHS Legislation, Regulations, Departmental Guidelines and Australian Standards to ensure our HSW Assurance Framework is consistent and accurate.Manage liaison, communication and coordination with other teams across the department contributing to the project.The Senior Health and Safety Specialist reports to the Principal Project Officer, Organisational Safety and Wellbeing.
Responsibilities include: Support the development, implementation and monitoring of HSW project plans and phases, including the coordination of various activities and resources associated with achieving the project objectives.Review data collected from existing audit processes including audit reports, photographic evidence and interview data. Seek to establish trends and communicate with worksite staff regarding rectifications.Research issues identified in existing audit process and provide specialist advice guided by relevant WHS Legislation, Regulation Departmental Guidelines and Australian Standards to ensure recommendations are accurate and reliable.Lead consultation, communication and coordination with other teams across the department contributing to the project.Participate in action monitoring activities that report to the Executive HSW Committee.Provide technical HSW project advice, information and status, including preparation of correspondence, policy responses, speeches, articles, media releases and briefings as required.Additional information: Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications required for this position, it would be highly desirable for the successful applicant to possess a Certificate IV, Diploma or higher in Workplace, Health and Safety and experience in the development of Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System documents and/or auditing against ISO 45001.
