This roster is a 5/2/4/3 - 38 hr week. This role is a residential position within the Parkes local area.

About the role
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, this role plays a crucial role in the LOM Studies & Exploration team, supporting long-term planning and resource management. You will lead the geotechnical engineering aspects of our Life of Mine and Exploration plans and contribute to site projects. Your responsibilities will include scoping, scheduling, and coordinating geotechnical work for Northparkes Mines projects and LOM studies. You will also oversee geotechnical mapping, core logging, and QA/QC processes, ensuring the reliability of rock mass and structural data. Your proactive risk analysis and recommendations will be pivotal to the success of mining projects.
Key responsibilities:
Coordinating geotechnical work for projects and Life of Mine (LOM) studies. Conducting rock mass analysis, define geotechnical properties, and make geotechnical recommendations. Managing geotechnical risks proactively for site projects and the LOM schedule. Collaborate with internal teams, including Mine Operations, Ore Processing, and external stakeholders like universities and consultants. Contributing to financial decision-making in major projects and procurement activities. About you
The ideal candidate will have considerable expertise in underground mining operations and planning, with a degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field. You must have a proven track record in managing geotechnical risks and are highly skilled in rock mass analysis, risk management, and geotechnical mapping. It is essential you have experience with block cave mining methods and be proficient in both mining and geotechnical software. You must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, and accurate technical writing and reporting.
