To learn more about us, please visit www.malleefamilycare.org.au About the OpportunityMFC is currently seeking a Senior Generalist Solicitor to become an integral member of our spirited Community Legal Centre. In this role, your expertise will be the cornerstone of promoting access to legal assistance, social justice, and human rights services.
Based in Mildura or Swan Hill, VIC, with frequent travel to the communities we serve, this role is your avenue to contribute substantially to the legal empowerment of those in need. Your mission will be to provide confidential legal advice, casework, and education, becoming a key player in our community's legal enlightenment and advocacy for change.
Your key responsibilities include:
Fulfilling the nominated person's role in the absence of the Principal Solicitor as a senior leaderDelivering high-quality, free, and accessible legal service in the Murray Mallee regionProviding support, mentorship, and guidance to less experienced Solicitors and new gradsSupporting the Principal Solicitor and fulfilling their responsibilities in their absenceEngaging in legal advice provision, casework, and community legal education, whilst ensuring compliance with professional and ethical standardsActively participating in the promotion and delivery of our Community Legal Service to remote and isolated regionsThis is a full-time role working 35 hours per week.

About YouTo qualify, you must have a current unrestricted practising certificate and be admitted as a legal practitioner in Victoria, with a minimum of 3 years post-admission experience.
A current driver's licence is essential due to frequent travel, and a willingness to be accommodated overnight when required.
The following skills and experience will be strong assets:
Experience in a range of legal services including but not limited to Credit and Debt matters, Family Law, Civil Law, Welfare Rights, and Family ViolenceProven track record of representing clients in courts and tribunalsAbility to balance competing priorities and manage a diverse caseloadOur ideal candidate is a dedicated legal practitioner with strong communication skills, able to work well in a team. With an empathic, solutions-focused mindset, you'll uphold our culture of empowering the vulnerable in our communities and embody our ethos of community engagement and support.
