With branches in Rockhampton, Mackay and Barcaldine and a site office in Emerald, the Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Central Queensland Region (CQ Region) looks after 9076km of state-controlled roads and about 1510km of the National Road Network.
This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).

The CQ Region covers an area of about 604,824km2, approximately 34.9% of Queensland.
Its landscape ranges from beautiful coastal areas adjoining the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests to the rugged outback with breathtaking rock formations.
The region has an estimated residential population of 422,141 people.

Key responsibilities:
The position of Senior Finance Advisor enables the financial management function within the Program Support team contributing to the delivery of the Mackay/Whitsunday District's Queensland Transport and Road Infrastructure Program (QTRIP).
It provides high-level advice and guidance to the district and ensures the actioning of effective financial management, project controls and administration in collaboration with Program Support's customers.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Lead, coach, and enable a multi-functional finance and project support team, ensuring skills set and training needs are identified and developed to support delivery of the QTRIP program.
• Provide advice on District financial business planning and budgeting and undertake regular financial monitoring, reviewing the delivery of key performance measures and subsequent reporting.
• Provide regular reporting and analysis of the District's performance in terms of expenditure, FTE and activity, identifying and explaining any relevant variances.
Assist in the development of strategies to explain and manage variance.
• Provide advice on the administration of QTRIP contracts to manage the delivery of the District's QTRIP programs and projects.
• Conduct analysis of financial activities to align with multiple financial systems and processes providing consistent application within the District.
• Provide financial management advice and support to the District Leadership Team in relation to initiatives focused on enhancing district capability in the delivery of the QTRIP program.
• Lead a culture of continuous improvement by identifying improvements to systems and processes which contribute to business improvement.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance obligations, standards, legislation, and policies.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
