Hamilton develops modular, scalable systems that automate sample storage, management, and processing, providing all the benefits of advanced automation without the complexity associated with installing, operating, and maintaining large-scale custom systems.Position Overview / ResponsibilitiesThe Company is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to provide field support for our sample storage platforms and benchtop devices for customers in the Australian territory.
This includes on-site installation, training, service visits, corrective repairs, validation, and commissioning of equipment.
This is a new position in a new market.
The incumbent must be willing to establish and build our service capacity in Australia and will be responsible for creating a daily work schedule, as well as managing inventory and the tools required to provide premier service to the Company's customers.The Senior Field Service Engineer duties will include but are not limited to:Providing on-site field service and repairs.Providing remote support via phone, e-mail, and computer.Troubleshooting:Electrical to the circuit board levelMechanical to the component levelCompleting accurate documentation in a timely manner:Daily Service Incident ReportsPerform Site SurveysEnter Postproduction ComplaintsInitiate RMAsInstallations and De-InstallationsRepair and PMsProviding training for customers.Building professional and strong working relationships with customers and companies.Following laboratory safety practices as defined by the Company and/or the customers' site safety code.Learning, knowing, and adhering to department and company standards and procedures.Reporting problems and performing root cause analysis on instrument failures.Regularly commuting to and from customer sites (35% travel) with the ability to navigate within the region, following traffic laws, correctly routing themselves, and ensuring on-time arrival at customer sites.Having knowledge of Australia work/service customs.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsBasic computer, electrical, and mechanical skill set.Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and direction.Manual dexterity to facilitate working with small parts:Position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amounts of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.Sedentary work involves sitting a significant amount of time.A high propensity for quality work.Demonstrated experience successfully working in the field as well as in a corporate setting.Self-motivated, resourceful, strong communication skills, and ability to interact effectively with customers at all levels required.Ability to train non-technical personnel on highly technical material.Willingness to work in a safety-conscious manner due to potential hazardous chemicals and biologicals.Ability to learn new robotic operating systems.Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license and successfully complete a motor vehicle history check.Must have personal, reliable transportation with valid registration and insurance that can safely transport necessary equipment.Education / ExperienceBachelor's degree in a related discipline from a regionally accredited, not-for-profit university preferred.The equivalent combination of an Associates, Vocational, Technical/Trade, or equivalent degree/certificate and at least two years of technical experience working in an electronic/electrical engineering environment with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronics, electrical, mechanical, and computer systems.Experience in technical field service and working with customers in the life science, clinical, or pharmaceutical field is preferred.Experience in automation or a similar field is required.Fluent in English, both written and verbal, is required.Experience troubleshooting refrigeration is desirable.Experience with Ultra-Low temperature (down to -80C) storage is desirable.Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move approximately 60 lbs.About HamiltonDiverse portfolio of exciting and innovative design projects, tremendous opportunities for professional growth, commitment to sustainable design, competitive compensation, excellent benefit package, solid stable company, drug-free workplace.
