Senior Emergency Management Officer, Sector Operations Readiness and ResponseThe Senior Emergency Management Officer contributes to the effective and efficient planning, monitoring, and delivery of the Department of Health's emergency management preparedness, response, relief and recovery obligations. Working as part of the Community and Public Health Division, the role supports the Emergency Management Branch at a regional level to ensure appropriate systems, processes, and procedures are in place to allow 24/7 readiness to meet departmental operational responsibilities before, during, and after emergencies. This includes actively participating in and maintaining a 24/7 Operations roster and working closely with key emergency management stakeholders including: central Emergency Management Branch, health services, Local Public Health Units, emergency agencies, and local government.
The role provides program management and strategic support and implementation for a range of policy and business systems that allow the department to build resilience to disruptions to essential services; ensuring the department meets its responsibilities for critical planning, preparedness, and infrastructure activities under the Emergency Management Act 2013.
Participation in the state/regional on-call roster is a requirement of this role.

How you'll make a difference: Establish and implement standardised operational models for responding to emergencies (Regional and State Operations) including working with business and specific emergency management systems.Consistent and inter-operable standards of practice under recognised system models for operational requirements.Lead the local implementation of guidelines, procedures, systems, and standardised practices for emergency operations.Contribute to the 24-hour, 7-days-a-week preparedness and operations of regional and state-wide emergency response activities in line with departmental guidelines. During emergencies, this may involve a range of tasks including the development of plans and reports, managing incoming and outgoing information, delivering briefings, coordinating the assignment of tasks, liaising with central and regional colleagues and external stakeholders, and representing the department in other emergency operations centres across the state.Provide professional leadership, advice and lead consultative processes to assist in building capability and capacity, and inter-operability for emergency management across the region, and health and emergency management sectors.Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate: A full driver's licence due to the need to respond to emergencies across the State at short notice and outside business hours as required.A tertiary qualification in fields related to emergency management, public health, public policy/administration, health administration, or business management is desirable.Certification in the Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS) is desirable.Experience developing and delivering emergency management consequence management, intelligence, hazard, and risk management systems.Knowledge and experience in emergency management arrangements in Victoria, across prevention, preparedness, response, relief, and recovery, and has successfully fulfilled a leadership response role for complex, high-impact, high-consequence emergency events.What we offer: The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world.A wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector.A strong commitment to work-life balance, including a diverse array of flexible working arrangements.How to apply: Applications should include a resume and a cover letter.
