Senior Director, Policy
Full-time PermanentDetails: At the Territory Records Office, our purpose is to inspire trust in government through transparent and accessible records that tell the story of Canberra. By developing professional records and information governance standards, providing practical advice, and delivering innovative projects, we maintain the framework in which government can create and keep records that account for its actions to the community.
The Senior Director, Policy oversees the development and delivery of policies and strategies that support increased information governance capability and maturity across the ACT Public Service. In this role, you will support the Executive Branch Manager to set and steer the strategic direction for the Territory Records Office. You will also oversee the work of teams that promote improved recordkeeping practice and an increased awareness of the value of records within government and the community.
To fulfil the role, you will need to be able to work collaboratively across government to achieve shared goals. You'll need to bring a pragmatic approach to resolving differences and issues in situations with many competing stakeholders and interests. And you'll need to have a commitment to advocating for the value of records and archives as a key enabler of government accountability and community memory.

Eligibility/other requirements: The following capabilities form the criteria that are required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge Excellent demonstrated understanding of, and effective ability to lead teams and build organisation and team capacity in, the management of strategic information and records management frameworks, procedures, or guidelines.Demonstrated highly-effective ability to develop, encourage and implement continuous improvements of business processes and systems in a customer-orientated team environment.Demonstrated and highly effective interpersonal and communication skills to influence outcomes, negotiate, represent the ACT Government, and communicate with a range of stakeholders.Tertiary qualifications in archives, records, information governance or related fields are highly desirable.
Behavioural Capabilities Proven ability to exercise excellent judgement, inspire others and manage resources in a dynamic and agile environment.Demonstrated and highly advanced strategic and critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a leadership capacity.Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the ACT Public Service values, workplace health and safety and inclusion and diversity principles and practices.Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position currently operates in a hybrid capacity which includes working from home and in office under an activity-based working environment with unallocated desks when in the office.
