With branches in Rockhampton, Mackay and Barcaldine and a site office in Emerald, the Transport and Main Roads Program Delivery and Operations (PDO) Central Queensland Region (CQ Region) looks after 9076km of state-controlled roads and about 1510km of the National Road Network. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).
The CQ Region covers an area of about 604,824km2, approximately 34.9% of Queensland. Its landscape ranges from beautiful coastal areas adjoining the Great Barrier Reef and rainforests to the rugged outback with breath-taking rock formations. The region has an estimated residential population of 422,141 people.

The Role:
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Undertake and supervise the development of transport infrastructure design models in the strategic planning, concept, development, and implementation phases of an overarching framework for the delivery of projects.
• Manage and undertake key components of the planning and design function for transport infrastructure projects to achieve successful completion within time, quality, cost and stakeholder expectations.
• Apply innovation, expert advice and broad problem solving in relation to planning and design for transport infrastructure projects and their relevant phases of corridor planning, program development, program delivery, and program finalisation.
• Ensure that planning and design principles are implemented in accordance with the relevant policies, standards, guidelines and legislation, and that quality management procedures are adhered to.
• Provide mentoring and guidance within the local design team in the use of 12D Model for Design and AutoCAD software.
• Assist with the management and review of external design consultancies provision of design services.
• Provide expert support and advice, including problem resolution, to various stakeholders on the planning and design process for successful completion of transport infrastructure projects.
• Provide input to determine the resourcing, engineering requirements, critical components and systems involved in supporting project management and delivery of planning and design component projects.
• Development of effective relations with internal and external stakeholders to identify and address needs, expectations and issues that may affect the successful delivery of projects.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• A minimum three-year, Sydney Accord accredited engineering degree such as a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil) or recognised equivalence.
• A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
