We're seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join the Information Technology and Digital Services Branch at the University of Adelaide. As a key member of our team, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our enterprise database platforms, contributing to the university's mission of excellence in research and teaching. As a Senior Database Administrator, you'll be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of our corporate Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB database platforms, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our university community. You'll have the opportunity to apply your expert knowledge to implement innovative solutions and provide strategic support to key stakeholders. This role offers a dynamic environment where you'll collaborate with internal and external partners, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and drive the use of emerging technologies to enhance our online applications. Your role will involve managing diverse stakeholders, troubleshooting system issues, and participating in projects to deliver quality solutions. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, along with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment. To be successful you will need: Extensive experience in designing, installing, and managing large corporate databases. Extensive experience implementing and maintaining database security and access controls to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data assets. Extensive experience installing, configuring, and managing database and related software. Experience designing and implementing high availability strategies, performing backups/recoveries, carrying our monitoring, tuning, cloning, scripting, patching and upgrades. Experience in management of a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure collaborative work practices. Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies desirable. Experience supporting Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB with Galera Clusters, or other enterprise databases. Professional certifications in any of the products listed above. Qualifications: A relevant tertiary qualification at Bachelor level or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Australian National Police Check is a mandatory requirement to be completed prior to commencing in this position. Must be an Australian Citizen Hybrid work is available with a minimum requirement to be onsite 2 days per week, full time remote work option cannot be considered.
