About the Role: NSW Fair Trading has an exciting ongoing opportunity for a Senior Data Analyst to join their Data, Analytics and Reporting unit, within the Regulatory Intelligence, Data Management and Reporting division of NSW Fair Trading Operations.
About the Data, Analytics and Reporting unit The Data, Analytics, and Reporting Unit is a highly motivated and specialist team that functions with foresight, delivering tactical, operational, and strategic data and analytics solutions. We produce complex and sophisticated data products and dashboards, targeting high-risk regulatory activities. As part of NSW Fair Trading, we support investigations, prosecutions, and proactive operations to ensure the protection of the NSW public, businesses, and communities. Our team is dedicated to facilitating data-driven, evidence-based decision making to enhance our regulatory and enforcement efforts.
In this role you will: Develop Analytics Products: Create and support complex data products using predictive modelling and data interpretation. Ensure Data Quality: Maintain high standards through data cleansing, extraction, exploration, and validation to transform raw data into strategic insights. Deliver Timely Analysis: Provide accurate, outcomes-focused data products to inform tactical, operational, and strategic decisions. Stakeholder Consultation: Collaborate with stakeholders to address complex issues and provide strategic advice. Team Leadership: Offer guidance and support to team members, serving as a role model and mentor. Implement Improvements: Review, develop, recommend, and implement efficiencies across statistical collections and outputs. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate: Experience in a compliance, regulatory or law enforcement environment highly desirable. You understand at least one branch of inferential statistics, and how to apply it appropriately within a complex business. Strong skills and experience with relational data modelling, SQL, and SQL database optimisation, including: Understanding of different relational data modelling paradigms. Experience designing and implementing relational data models for continuous data loading in a SQL environment. Experience with continuous integration and deployment for SQL databases and BI tools, including experience with git workflows and automated deployment in a data environment context. Experience building and productionising Python-based data visualisation and analysis applications using one or more of Dash, Streamlit, Flask, Django. Salary Grade: 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting at $120,859 base plus superannuation.
