In this role you will act as a role model for the project's vision and values, while coaching and supervising other project team members to maintain technical competence and consistency of administration.
This role will be accountable for: Managing upstream Head Contract commercial and contractual requirements across two separate Melbourne Airport projects, Naarm Way Elevated Road and Forecourt Stage 2 (Building Package) project and Terminal 1 Security Screening project.Focus of role will be upstream change management for variations, provisional sums and extensions of time.Review and compile change and delay notices and quotations to the Client.Maintain collaborative relationship with all key internal and external parties.Issues management including dispute avoidance and resolution as required.Manage all formal correspondence to and from the Client and ensure all contractual obligations are met.Maintain live change register and filing of documents, evidence and correspondence on an online server including the use of Aconex for all correspondence.Be comfortable working at a detailed and strategic level and support this with the necessary written, numerical and verbal skills. Able to accept responsibility and accountability for all the directly related commercial activities in relation to the Head Contract.Be innovative and strategic in managing commercial arrangements to achieve win-win scenarios for all parties.Establish and implement commercial plans, procedures, and systems to align with the Head Contract requirements.Create and maintain a delivery commercial toolkit, including ongoing continuous improvement.Coach and supervise other project team members to maintain technical competence and consistency of administration within the project team and to check that actions or inactions which could result in trends or constructive modifications are identified and make recommendations on their resolution.Provide support on key project commercial matters as required including but not limited to, practical completion, client instructions/directions, programs and design changes.Minimum requirements for this role are: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Law, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.10 years + experience in commercial and contract administration gained on construction, engineering or associated projects.Construction experience on larger scale building and/or civil projects is essential.Great technical construction knowledge and skills to assist formation of change management notices and quotations.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to achieve outcomes with a variety of internal and external parties.Excellent influencing and negotiating skills to deliver the right outcomes in a timely manner.Skilled in cost engineering, quantity surveying, planning, risk, estimating, tendering, construction law, contract drafting, administration and negotiation of contracts and subcontracts including change orders, dispute resolution and effective correspondence.Experience in dealing with large scale construction projects.
