The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions in Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system. The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 475 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.
Senior Briefings Officer Full Time, Ongoing The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) has an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our organisation as a Senior Briefings Officer within the Briefings Services division.
As one of the key contact points of Briefing Services, an important element of the position will be to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to enable the office to build long term and sustainable business arrangements.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Procurement Officer and as required, will assist the Manager, Briefing Services.
About the Role: Assist in the procurement of counsel and the creation of associated contracts, enter in fees and any negotiated extra tasks.Investigate and capture all matters appearing in relevant court lists ensuring the data is accurate and that all courts are serviced.Establish and maintain effective working relationships, both internal and external to the OPP, including problem solving and dispute resolution where appropriate.As our ideal candidate you will have: High level communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence relevant stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in an environment of change, often with competing priorities.Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in order to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of the Section.To apply, you will need to submit a resume, cover letter and complete the online questionnaire which can be found on the last page of the application process.
