Senior Animal Care Officers

RSPCA SA is committed to the welfare of animals, offering a safe haven to animals in need and advocating for their well-being. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Animal Care Officers (Senior) to work in both our dog and cat teams. 
These are permanent part time roles spanning over 7 days - so flexibility is a must.  Key Responsibilities: Supervise and provide leadership to Animal Care Officers and volunteers.Ensure adherence to best practices in animal husbandry and care standards.Develop and implement procedures, welfare-centric handling practices, and lean processes.Provide training and resources to staff and volunteers for enhanced animal welfare knowledge.Act as the first point of contact for team queries and issues, resolving them through counseling and coaching.Monitor the health and welfare of animals, reporting concerns as necessary. Maintain accurate animal records in both paper-based systems and databases.Administer medications and maintain cleanliness in animal enclosuresCoordinate with the Veterinary Centre for surgery pick-ups and animal relocations.Manage inventory levels and ensure adequate supplies.Conduct in-care inventory checks and collaborate on rehoming plans for long-term resident animalsStep in for husbandry duties during staff shortages and manage team allocations.Qualifications and Skills: Candidates must possess at least a Certificate II in Animal Studies or an equivalent qualificationExperience in handling aggressive, sick, and injured animals.Demonstrated experience in leading and coaching a teamWhat We Offer A permanent part time role offering you a fantastic work/life balanceA role that directly contributes to the welfare and well-being of animals.The opportunity to work in a supportive team environment.Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
