THE ABRA PROJECT

Abra Mining Pty Limited (Administrator's Appointed) is seeking a Senior Alternate Underground Manager for a full-time position with the company based at our Abra Mine.
Abra is located approximately 220km north of Meekatharra, in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The mine represents one of the world's cleanest and largest standalone lead-silver projects capable of producing "Metal in concentrate" of between 90 – 100ktpa lead and 600 – 800kozs silver per year.

The Abra Mineral Resource geologically consists of multiple mineralised zones predominately consisting of an upper over-laying sediment bound Apron zone that sits above an underlying hydrothermal feeder system called the Core zone.

The most recent LOM plan (1.5Mtpa) based on the MRE2023, grade control model updates and ore mined to date contains 16.3Mt @ 6.9% Pb indicating a mine life of 10+ years.

The Abra Mine construction and commissioning was completed in late 2022 and production ramp up took place during 2023, the mine has now reached steady state production volumes.

The underground ore mined is processed through a conventional processing plant, to produce a high-grade lead-silver concentrate that is exported via the Geraldton Port.
THE ROLE

Reporting to the Underground Manager (or SSE / GM on site), as Senior Alternate Underground Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day mine operations and leading the mine's Operational Team including Mining Contractor, to achieve the mine's budgetary targets. This includes coordinating all facets of the underground operations to meet all safety, production, and cost targets, whilst ensuring that all mining and planning activities support are driven by the mine's short, medium, and long-term needs.

In addition, the Senior Alternate Underground Manager will be responsible for: Liaising with the Underground Mining Contractor to achieve the scheduled and budget forecasts.Providing operational direction and leadership to the Technical Services team members.Assisting the Technical Services Manager with mentoring and guiding the Technical Services team in leading industry practices and processes, achieved through collaboration and team results.Ensuring mining personnel are achieving maximum productivity.Actively promoting safety and demonstrating a personal commitment to safety.Conducting regular and routine workplace inspections to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.Statutory management of the mine as prescribed in the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations, including regular inspections of the mine.Analysing and reporting on mining operational performance.Active participation in preparing forecasts and developing mining strategies in collaboration with the Technical Services Team and Mining Contractors.Driving continuous improvement initiatives across safety, workforce planning, underground processes, reporting, and contractor management.Accept appointment as Alternate SSE to hold coverage from time to time.ABOUT YOU

You will have required mining industry experience with a broad range of underground mining technical and management skills, pursuant to the role. Your current and past reports would describe you as an inspiring and motivating leader who fosters close working relationships with employees and contractors. Contractors you have worked alongside you would vouch for your leadership, natural relationship-building skills, and commitment to promoting safety awareness.
