The Role The purpose of the nbn regulatory team is to help nbn shape and navigate the commercial and regulatory environment, to help nbn fulfil its purpose of lifting the digital capability of Australia. The nbn Regulatory team's overall objective is to shape nbn's regulatory environment to maximise the value of the company as it delivers on its objectives.
Reporting to the General Manager Regulation – Pricing and Products, the Senior Advisor - Regulatory Affairs will work collaboratively to partner with business colleagues to build understanding of nbn's regulatory environment and provide advice and solutions on how to operate within its requirements. The role will take ownership of dedicated portfolio(s) of work with a particular focus on pricing and product related work, including ACCC engagement on pricing matters, across the regulatory team.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Building relationships with external stakeholders who contribute to the regulatory environment in which the company operates.Managing a suite of regulatory issues to achieve successful outcomes for the company.Managing regulatory intervention that could limit nbn's commercial and operational flexibility.Business partnering with key internal stakeholders to educate and advise on nbn's regulatory risk.Ensuring regulators and other key external stakeholders understand key nbn context and initiatives, including competitive market context, imperatives for financial sustainability, customer experience, Retail Service Provider (RSP) enablement, and nbn's purpose including digital inclusion and investment initiatives.About you You enjoy challenges and working in complex environments. With refined problem-solving skills, you thrive working on new initiatives and enjoy collaborating with others to deliver optimal outcomes.
You are a quick learner, highly organised and have the ability to manage a range of issues and stakeholders. You are also intellectually curious, adaptable, collaborative with the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.
Ideally you will possess: Degree Qualification in Economics, Commerce or Finance.3 – 5 years of experience.Good understanding of the principles of economic regulation of infrastructure assets and the regulatory environment.High level of competence in gathering relevant inputs to enable provision of regulatory advice, drawing on business insight and regulatory expertise to help solve business problems.Familiarity with regulatory economics principles; experience in their application to pricing regulation.Strong economic and analytical skills, including numeracy skills required to analyse financial/costing/pricing information.Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.Excellent written and verbal skills.
