Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant (Infrastructure) to oversee various facets of capital accounting.
This role involves managing budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, as well as evaluating capital performance and efficiency.
The goal is to support the effective management of work programs within the approved budget.
In this role, you will: Develop and manage the annual and mid-year State budgets, ensuring alignment with Asset Planners and portfolio managers, and effective coordination with the Capital Delivery team and Corporate Finance for accurate budget submission and management.
Oversee the asset program budgets, including forecasting risks, identifying projects at risk of exceeding budgets, and working with Asset Planners to address budget pressures and opportunities for reallocation.
Ensure that adjustments and response plans are accurately captured and reflected in month-end reporting, manage budget re-allocations, and ensure accurate entries in systems like CAPs and Insight.
Validate and manage determination values, ensuring their accurate assignment and reporting within Sustainable Infrastructure systems, and assist in the preparation of the Key Investment Report with variance analysis on major projects.
Collaborate with Infrastructure Planning, Capital Delivery, and the Infrastructure Management Office to improve financial management, streamline processes, and enhance business effectiveness through detailed analysis, variance reporting, and regular reviews with business leaders, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and well-being.
About you: CA or CPA qualification; experience in capital work programs, including financial, scheduling, and pipeline data; extensive knowledge of infrastructure assets; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
Proven track record in business partnering and building strong relationships to drive outcomes.
Significant experience in project accounting; proficiency with analytical tools (e.g., Power BI is highly desirable).
