About the roleProvide high quality, timely and appropriate levels of security, fire protection and safety services to The Prince Charles Hospital as required to ensure the protection of persons, the protection of property, the prevention of crime, the preservation of the peace and the protection of information.Assist clinical staff in the management of problematic persons, security incidents and events, and fire and emergency incidents which may include liaison with Emergency Services.About youThis successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:Provide comprehensive security services and assistance to patients, visitors, staff and contractors whilst at the same time protecting the physical assets of the hospital and campus.Provide a first response presence to all emergency situations.Provide close personal protection to staff confronting aggressive and volatile situations in the provision of front-line health services.Prioritise tasks and respond to requests for security and/or emergency assistance in accordance with Queensland Health, Health Service, Facility and Unit guidelines, policies, procedures, and protocols.Prevention, intervention, investigation and recording of crime within the Health Service as defined by statute law, including but not limited to theft, wilful damage, assault, trespass, and public nuisance offences.As required, escort, monitor and restrain patients under the direction and supervision of clinical staff.Provide traffic, smoking and other controls as outlined in the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 and the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998, including directing and/or physically escorting disorderly persons off Health Services land.Health EquityIt is expected that all Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role as a valuable member of the Metro North workforce, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), by actively supporting the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism; supporting increased access to health care; influencing the social, cultural and economic determinants of health; supporting the delivery of sustainable, culturally safe and responsive health services; and recognise the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations to design, deliver, monitor and review the health and support services we provide.Benefits when working for usRewarding career and development opportunities across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areasValue driven organisation which provides a work environment that is safe, satisfying, flexible, and promotes a healthy work-life balanceFlexible working arrangements and competitive salary rates with annual incremental increasesBenefit from a higher than standard employer contribution to Superannuation of up to 12.75% and access to salary packagingBe part of a world-class, dynamic and growing health service that embraces technology and innovation, excellence in healthcare, quality teaching and cutting edge research.
