The opportunity   The Mining Sector Lead is a newly created role within our Earth & Environment business group in Australia to lead one of our key strategic pillars of growth for our next three-year strategic cycle.
This position offers a fantastic opportunity to lead the strategic planning and direction for a key sector at the start of a new strategic cycle.
The location is flexible.
We will consider applicants anywhere in Australia, with a preference for Perth, Western Australia .
Reporting to the WSP Earth and Environment Operations Director, you will help clients meet increasingly stringent environmental regulations for mine development, operation, and closure.
Your key responsibilities include identifying and capturing opportunities, developing winning strategies with Project Directors, understanding the marketplace, and enhancing our Mine Environmental capabilities.
It is important to note that WSP has a separate Mining business group.
Success in this role requires interfacing and strengthening internal corporate relationships and collaborating with Mining on mine infrastructure, access, closure, and environmental containment, to ultimately ensure Earth & Environment services are effectively promoted to mining clients, leveraging all of WSP's strengths and aligning with its strategies.
Your time will be split as follows:  Client Relationship Management/Business Development: 50%  Project Leadership/Delivery: 40%  Mentoring/Coaching/Training: 10%  In more detail, you will:  Lead the growth and revenue targets for our Mining sector nationally Promote collaboration between the two business groups – Earth & Environment and Mining, as part of the broader Mining sector strategy Develop and implement strategies with senior stakeholders  Maintain a strong market presence through client-facing activities  Prioritise pursuits and manage a pipeline of opportunities  Provide market intelligence and support brand-building initiatives  Foster a high-performing, engaged and client-centric workforce with a focus on mentoring and development  Ensure compliance with corporate governance and risk management  Your KPIs:  Sector Net Revenue target    Proposal strike rate    Client feedback surveys   Client advocacy scoring (i.e.
Net Promoter Score)    Thought leadership activities   Brand building activities or client events   Accuracy of account plans    Utilisation (billability) target   About you You are a collaborative business development leader with a strategic and growth mindset.
You are passionate about the resources sector and bring over 8 years of experience working in a multidisciplinary advisory firm.
Though you may have a technical background (e.g.
ecology, approvals, contaminated land, geo-environmental solutions), you will primarily bring broad advisory and policy experience, strong regulatory knowledge, and a deep understanding of the operational, environmental and socio-economic pressures our mining clients face.
You will also bring:  Strong client network in the Mining sector and experience in key client relationship management  Demonstrated leadership in multi-disciplinary proposals and commercial negotiations  Excellent business acumen and understanding of market trends  Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills  Highly collaborative and influential  Self-aware and service-oriented, and a catalyst for change  Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.
