Our stability, resources and respectful culture supports you in building a solid career with a great team you can count on day in and day out for the long term. Reporting to the General Manager, the Safety Manager role provides functional leadership in the development, maintenance and coordination of the company's health and safety management program. The position has ongoing responsibilities to assess plant safety, security and SMS performance and, where appropriate, develop and implement plans to improve safety performance.This key role will:Lead the development of the health and safety culture where all staff are aware of and actively participate in safety initiatives, including undertaking risk assessments and hazard identification to ensure the site remains compliant and risks are identified and managed.Develop, implement and promote health and safety policies and ensure adherence by employees liaising where necessary with external agencies/regulators and industry groups. Lead on Fire safety for the site, taking on role of Chief Fire Warden Assist the leadership team to implement key safety initiatives ensuring key members are supported to implement initiatives. Manage the safety reporting scheme and occurrence reporting systems including initiation of reporting, investigation and assistance with resolution/mitigation.Assist with maintenance of regulatory certification as it relates to the aviation safety management system.Assist with rehabilitation and return-to-work process and oversee suitable duties programs with respective managers.Implement and manage training courses for new and existing employees as they relate to health and safety policies and regulatory training/assessment requirements.Assist in the development and implementation of environmental strategies, for example, strategies for sustainable development, resource conservation, and waste reduction that align with Corporate objectives. Lead EHS audits (both internal and external) including preparation, resolution of non-compliance and review of observations.To be successful in this role you will need:Post-secondary education (minimum Cert IV) in a relevant field or significant experience within the aviation industrySignificant interpersonal and communication skills to drive and influence a safety culture, Experience working with multidisciplinary teams (locally and internationally)Intermediate knowledge of relevant systems including MS suite, and safety systems.High level understanding, and implementation of safety plans with the ability to review and implement changes in response to changing business needsAbility to work autonomously and adapt to changing needs as they arise.Desire to grow, learn and work in a team environment Benefits you will enjoy!Clean, safe working environment with a close-knit teamTraining and career development opportunitiesSocial activities including participation in community support eventsOnsite car parkingThis is a full-time role based in our Brisbane workshop and due to Aviation regulations, this role is classed as a Safety Sensitive Aviation Activity and requires the holder to comply and qualify under our Drugs and Alcohol Policy.
