Health, Safety & Environment (Construction) Full time Hyundai Rotem Company (HRC) was founded in 1977 and since that time, has been leading the industry globally by delivering critical national infrastructure in over 50 countries.
A leader in the Korean rail industry, HRC has succeeded in developing high-speed trains and is now establishing their presence in the Australian market.
Currently, the Australian operation of HRC is working on two major projects: The New Intercity Fleet (NIF) Project - a joint venture between HRC, UGL and MEA, this project is delivering a fleet of new intercity trains for operation in the NSW electrified rail network.
The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (QTMP) - a project commissioning, designing and constructing a new manufacturing facility in Torbanlea Qld and a new maintenance facility in Ormeau Qld.
Combined local and international design teams and suppliers will work together to ensure the delivery of manufacturing requirements and associated documentation to ensure that train sets locally manufactured in Australia meet the design, compliance, manufactuability, reliability, maintainability and safety specifications for the trains operational life for a minimum of at least 35 years.

The Role Overview As the HRC Safety Manager, you will lead and manage the overall implementation and delivery of HRC's Safety Management System at our sites in Brisbane and Fraser Coast.
You will work closely with the Operations Team and Project Team to manage and coordinate key project documents, data, project requirements and other activities in compliance with the Project Safety Management Plan.
As a key member of the QTMP Project Team, you will work closely with the Operations Manager, T&C Manager, Joint Venture partner Safety Manager, engineers and internal and external stakeholders to facilitate positive outcomes for safety of the project.
Depending on the job location, regular travel will be required to HRC's QLD sites.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities Responsible for HRC's project Safety Management System documentation, fitness for purpose and deployment including risk management, procedures, training, audit and inspection.
Ensuring that HRC complies with all relevant legal requirements, including those for Drug and Alcohol, Fatigue, Training & Competency and Medical Health and Fitness for all workers.
Oversee incident investigations and process including approval of all reports for HRC safety incidents.
Work with management to set targets for improved safety performance, training and competency and team behaviors.
Leading and/or coordinating key safety improvements or other activities in partnership with the HRC team and partner companies.
Ensuring that safety management systems and risks are identified, managed and controlled in conjunction with the HRC management team.
Reporting to HRC Project Director on a regular basis related to HRC Safety performance and resource requirements.
Setting the strategic safety direction/plan and requirements for HRC QTMP activities in QLD for the Delivery Phase of the project.
A core team member of the QTMP project team, attend weekly HRC management team forum related to safety matters reporting on HSE risks, issues and actions.
Lead all HRC Rail Safety Accreditation matters and engagements with ONRSR.
Responsible for integrating System Safety requirements into operational safety management and engagement with external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Education Requirements An appropriate qualification in Safety Management, Environment Management, Business Improvement, Engineering or Project Management disciplines.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in safety management or related disciplines, ideally in rail or manufacturing environments.
Sound understanding and working knowledge of modern safety management practices.
Strong safety, systems, operational and reporting skills.
Excellent leadership and communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
Proficient skills in computers: Sharepoint, MS Word, Excel, email.
Experience gained in the rail, automotive, military, defence, avionics or any other safety critical environment preferred.
