The Food & Beverage Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations of food and beverage services, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining high standards of service and hygiene within dining and event spaces. This role requires a blend of leadership, customer service, and operational skills.
Duties and responsibilities include: Supervise and support team members during service periods. Communicate effectively with management, team members, and other departments to ensure operational goals are met. Allocate staff to areas of service and assign breaks according to Award entitlements. Assist with training as required. Distribute information to the team regarding changes to the menu and offerings, management instruction, and policy and procedure updates. Conduct periodic staff briefings when required. Handle guest enquiries and complaints by providing accurate information and resolution options. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the dining and events areas, including tables, chairs, and service stations. Monitor and replenish stock levels for beverages and consumables. Report any shortages or issues with supplies to management. Monitor and address guest needs and preferences throughout their dining experience. Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth service operations. Look for opportunities to upsell items or promote Balgownie Estate offerings. Perform all opening and closing duties as required. Reconcile accounts and communicate discrepancies. Complete the daily handover; acknowledge good performers, highlight issues and actions taken, and communicate operational needs. About You: Supervision: Lead a team of attendants by providing guidance and support to ensure high performance. Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on creating a positive guest experience. Ability to handle inquiries, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and empathy. Quality Control: Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and consistency to ensure compliance with established standards and guest expectations. Team Communication: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment through clear and effective communication with staff and management. Encourage information sharing and impart product and service knowledge with team members. Guest Communication: Communicate with guests to understand their needs, resolve issues, and ensure a memorable dining experience. Problem-Solving: Quick thinking and effective problem-solving abilities to address and resolve issues that arise during service. Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with colleagues, including staff in other departments and management, to ensure smooth operations. Attention to Detail: Accuracy in order taking, preparation, and service to ensure customer satisfaction and compliance with safety standards. Adaptability: Flexibility to handle varying customer volumes, guest requests, and varying shifts, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekends, events, and holidays. Time management: Manage multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently allocate and prioritise time and resources. Knowledge: Understanding of the sequence of service and restaurant operations. Possess strong product knowledge of all the food and beverage menus, including costs, ingredients, method of preparation, wine styles, and presentation of items. Current Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate Valid Food Safety certificate Experience working in a fine dining establishment Previous leadership role Have a reliable car to drive to and from Maiden Gully Full working rights in Australia.
