Role Description The Reservoir Optimisation Lead is a key role responsible for leading all reservoir engineering activities on the existing operating wells within Asset West/East. We currently have openings for this position in both Asset East & Asset West.
This role collaborates closely with the Production Engineering team and other support functions to:
Generate production forecastsAssess reserves and resourcesDevelop reservoir monitoring and surveillance plansIdentify and analyse opportunities to optimise existing well stock through brownfield projectsCo-lead well reviewsPrepare lookbacks on performance of drill packagesThese activities support current operations for the Assets and further support the Assets to maximise production and optimise cost of supply, while ensuring safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities include: Overall accountability for all aspects of Reservoir Engineering of the existing operating wellsEngage, develop, and coach team members to create a high performing team environmentProvide strong leadership and guidance to a team of Reservoir Engineers and/or Petroleum Engineers, ensuring all deliverables are metAccountable for production forecasts for existing wells, including high and low side scenariosPromote cross-functional collaboration with the Production Engineering and Integrated Planning teamsAccountable for assessing reserves and resources including classification and documentation for assigned field(s)Prepare and implement Reservoir Surveillance and Management plans and reserves forecasts for producing wellsWork with the production engineering team to identify and assess production optimisation opportunitiesLead multi-discipline teams to complete economic assessments of brownfield optimisation projects including surface equipment upgrades and gathering network pressure reduction opportunitiesActive participation in the review of STP (Short Term Plan) and UDP (Upstream Development Plan) production forecastsPreparation and delivery of TCM (Technical Committee Meeting) presentation material to APLNG shareholdersCultivate strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, effectively communicating complex technical informationRole model Origin leadership habits and HSE behaviours, actively implementing change initiatives to support the delivery of asset and IG strategy and outcomes, and ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and innovationAbout you We are seeking a candidate with a strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental practices who excels in leadership and team development. The ideal individual will possess excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building trust and credibility across all levels of the organisation. You should demonstrate flexibility, personal accountability, and effective communication. Be able to manage confidential data and make well-informed technical decisions and recommendations.
You will need to initiate and nurture strong relationships with stakeholders at every level, showcasing exceptional time management and work prioritisation skills. An ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment is essential, along with a respectful attitude towards diverse perspectives and viewpoints. Minimum Requirements: 10 years of Oil and Gas industry experience, working as a Reservoir or Petroleum EngineerChartered Engineer in Australia / RPEQExtensive technical knowledge of Reservoir and/or Petroleum Engineering disciplinesExperience in analytical reservoir modellingKnowledge and experience in production forecasting, material balance, well testing, pressure transient analysis, risk analysis and reserves estimationsKnowledge of other subsurface disciplines including geology, petrophysics, geophysics etcThorough understanding of coal seam reservoir geologyKnowledge of interpretation software packages (e.g. Pansystem, Saphire, Harmony)For more information, please contact Bronwen Franca - 0738670157, quote Requisition ID 87143 or apply now.
