Salary: $95,000 - $102,000 per annum + superannuation + NFP salary packaging benefits

The opportunity:

The Research and Development Team/Genetics & Genomics Innovation at VCGS is a dynamic new team focused on bringing cutting-edge technologies and innovative test options to our clinical and research services. We are looking for a Team Leader – R&D who will play a crucial role in shaping the future of genetic and genomic testing.

About the Role:

As the Team Leader – R&D, you will:
Collaborate with clinical variant curators, bioinformaticians, lab technicians, scientists, geneticists, and counsellors. Work closely with the Head of R&D to scope and coordinate new projects and manage stakeholder relationships. Oversee the implementation of new testing assays and technologies, ensuring seamless integration with our in-house automation systems. Provide leadership in staff training, leave scheduling, SOP writing, and general lab duties. Manage cost centers, staff leave approvals, and contract renewals. Foster strong working relationships across VCGS laboratories, particularly with the Nucleic acid Extraction and Sequencing Technologies (NEST), Clinical Bioinformatics, and Clinical Genomics teams.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to adapt to the needs of VCGS. Capability to work under pressure when workloads are high or timelines are tight.
