+ 17% Super Location: Tonsley View Research Associate (Level A) Position Description View Research Fellow (Level B) Position Description About the Role The College of Science and Engineering is seeking a Research Associate/Fellow in Computer Vision to undertake cutting edge research into Koala Detection Using Biologically Inspired Vision, under the direction of Associate Professor, Dr Russell Brinkworth.
The focus of this project is to detect wildlife in forests without disruption, for the purpose of conservation and wildlife preservation.
The Research Associate/Fellow will assist in leading the design and execution of the research project by performing tasks including, developing and implementing target detection techniques, software coding of embedded computing hardware and by integrating infrared and visual imaging technology.
The outcome of this project will be to work with a local SME to develop and implement a new product.
To be successful in this role, you will: Play a lead role in coordinating, planning and executing the project tasks required to collaborate with industry partners.
Independently contribute to the planning and execution of research by offering new and innovative ideas, reviewing relevant literature and other sources of information, actively participate in the production of data, contribute to the writing and editing of grant applications and attending seminars, meetings and conferences.
Independently contribute to ethical, high quality and innovative research and evaluation.
About You With a strong research track history, your well-developed technical and analytical skills will elevate the quality of research undertaken and the overall outcome of the project.
You will be capable of working independently and in a team environment to develop, improve and implement new technology.
You will be a good communicator, capable of establishing and maintaining positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Candidates will be determined to be suitable for a Level A or Level B position depending on their relevant experience.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate: Completion of a PhD in Electrical & Electronic or Robotic Engineering or Computer Science or a related field (a skillset in machine vision, machine learning or signal processing is highly desirable).
Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodology.
Experience delivering project targets on time.
Demonstrated ability to plan and execute data collection and analysis.
