In this role, you'll: Undertake maintenance and repairs on a range of plant items, vehicles and mechanical equipment.Safely undertake a range of duties to maintain and repair plant items, both light and heavy vehicles and mechanical equipment.Perform a wide range of routine and complex labouring/manual tasks, including the use of a variety of small plant and powered and non-powered hand tools, to assist with the completion of work activities.Conduct safety checks on all plant used, complete basic maintenance such as refuelling and checking fluid, and maintain records and reports to ensure the safe use of plant items.Solve routine problems that arise, referring to standard guidelines and manuals and collaborate with team leaders and supervisors to resolve complex problems to ensure risks are minimised and work goals are achieved.Provide guidance to team members, including apprentices/trainees, to develop capability and ensure team tasks are completed effectively.Understand and maintain knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures, assessing and controlling risks, record management and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.Mechanical Tradesperson Grade 1-3 is multi-graded. The starting grade is assigned based on demonstrated skills and experience. Progression through the grades is automatic provided the employee can demonstrate they have the skills and capabilities required for the next grade.
We provide an inclusive and collaborative space to develop your skills and share your knowledge across the team. Therefore, there may be occasions where you may be required to supervise apprentices or staff assisting other mechanics across the area.
This is an ongoing full-time role located at Cooma. TfNSW takes the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously; therefore, to be eligible for this role, it is a requirement that you must reside within a reasonable distance from your identified Headquarters/Depot.
About you You are a proactive, collaborative and qualified mechanical tradesperson who enjoys working autonomously. You have good problem-solving skills and fault diagnosis skills and you're proactive in dealing with customer complaints by being effective and efficient in your approach.
With a strong focus on safety, you have the ability to identify, communicate and report environmental hazards in the workplace and understand the quality requirements of the tasks to be performed within this position.
It is essential that you have completed a relevant Mechanical trade and experience working with Heavy Vehicles will be highly regarded. You hold a current Construction Industry White Card and a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver's licence. A Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver's Licence would be viewed favourably.
You must have a willingness to undertake any legislated or internal licensing or ticketing requirements as directed. An AIS Examiners Ticket is highly desirable.
The wage range for this position is $1,370.40 to $1,516.70 per week plus superannuation and allowances. This role also includes 4 weeks annual leave and a 9-day fortnight.
