About the role Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs. Leading on the frontline is one of the most important roles in our business and it comes with a huge amount of responsibility. The relief team leader is required motivate, inspire and keep the team safe and well.
We are looking foraRelief Team Leader / 2IC to join our Maintenance Departmentat Rio Tinto Yarwun. You will work closely with the Team Leader to achieve our safety, people and growth objectives through planning and executing maintenance activities.
Reporting to theMaintenance Team Leader , some of your duties, in addition to a fitter role, will include:
Demonstrating personal and team behaviour that meets or exceeds the Yarwun Visions and Models for leadership Fostering a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement Lead or support shift start meetings Perform scheduled field leadership and infield activities Support onboarding and training of new team members Escalate people, safety and work-related concerns with the Team Leader and assist with resolving issues in line with company policies In conjunction with the Team Leader, integrate relevant safety routines and risk assessment processes (e.g. CRM, QSI) into daily routines and behaviours Support with notification management and job planning What you'll bring A demonstrated commitment to the safety of yourself and your team A Mechanical trade is essential, preferably fitting A thirst for knowledge and ability to ask the right questions to problem solve with your team A passion for developing, training and motivating your people and enabling their success What we offer Full relocation provided to Gladstone, Queensland from elsewhere in Australia Be recognised for your contribution, your thinking and your hard work, and go home knowing you've helped the world progress. Where you'll be working Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually.
As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce.
With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24-hour operation.
Yarwun is a proud member of the Gladstone community, and along with Boyne Smelters Limited and Queensland Alumina Limited, support community investments that improve the liveability of the Gladstone region through the Here for Gladstone community fund.
