As a Regulatory Advisor - Wholesale Energy , you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and advocating for the company's interests in the dynamic energy market. The successful candidate will work closely with regulatory bodies, internal stakeholders, and industry partners to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and drive strategic initiatives that align with the company's business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and analyse regulatory developments, policies, and legislation affecting the wholesale energy market. Provide expert advice and recommendations to internal teams on regulatory compliance and risk management. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and reporting requirements. Engage with regulatory authorities and industry associations to influence policy outcomes and advocate for the company's interests. Develop and implement strategies to address regulatory challenges and opportunities, optimizing business operations and mitigating risks. Conduct regulatory impact assessments to evaluate the implications of proposed changes on the company's business operations and financial performance. Support the development and implementation of regulatory compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures. Participate in industry forums and working groups to stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in regulatory compliance. Prepare and deliver regulatory training sessions and workshops to educate internal stakeholders on compliance obligations and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the impact of regulatory changes on product development, pricing strategies, and market competitiveness. Prepare regulatory submissions, responses to consultations, and stakeholder engagements on behalf of the company. Monitor regulatory compliance metrics and performance indicators, providing regular updates and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Economics, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in regulatory affairs, preferably in the energy or utilities sector. Strong understanding of energy market regulations, including NEM rules, AER guidelines, and relevant legislation. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proven track record of influencing regulatory outcomes and driving regulatory compliance initiatives.
