The Registered Nurse/ Endorsed Enrolled Nurse – Day Surgery is an essential part of the perioperative nursing team that admits and prepares patients for surgery and monitors patients as they recover from the effects of anaesthesia during the second stage of recovery. Responsibilities include all aspects of patient care following surgery which includes monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and respiration, as well as managing the pain and nausea that often follow anaesthesia. Must be able to think critically, make confident decisions in a fast-paced clinical environment and communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
The Friendlies Peri-Operative suite consists of five theatres that provide a wide range of surgeries, including ENT, Orthopaedic, General, Plastic and Cosmetic, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Urology and Vascular Surgery. A separate standing Endoscopy unit also forms part of the Peri-Operative services.
