The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is an independent statutory office established to protect the rights and interests of adults with impaired decision-making capacity, and children and young people in the child protection system and other visitable sites.

Key responsibilities:
• Lead, manage and supervise a remote team of community visitors to deliver high quality visiting and advocacy services that fulfil the statutory functions of the Public Guardian Act 2014.
• Manage the provision of advocacy services to protect and promote the rights and interests of our clients including making referrals and undertaking high level negotiation and dispute resolution techniques to achieve the best possible client outcomes.
• Maintain knowledge of contemporary systems and practice guidelines to inform continuous practice improvement and the provision of high quality supervision, direction, training and support to community visitors.
• Identify, escalate and respond to significant risks impacting clients or the agency, including providing strategic and timely advice and recommendations to senior management.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with a range of government and non-government agencies, professional bodies and community organisations including delivering community education about the role and functions of Community Visiting and Advocacy.
• Manage financial, human and administrative resources in accordance with agency delegations, policy and procedure including the Queensland Public Service Code of Conduct.
Mandatory Qualifications and Conditions
Possession of a C class driver's licence is a mandatory requirement for this role.
A mandatory condition of this role is a Working with Children Check clearance (Blue Card). If you do not already have one, OPG will guide you on how to apply.
Tertiary qualifications or relevant work experience relating to social, health, behavioural sciences or related disciplines is desirable.
