Our Townsville and Brisbane Regional Train Control and Planning Teams are a 24/7 operational centre, that plays a pivotal role in connecting communities and providing world-class rail services for our customers.
As the Regional Manager Safeworking and Training you will be responsible for leading the development and execution of safeworking and training strategies for our Regional Train Control and Planning teams, ensuring compliance with legislative and corporate governance requirements while maintaining Queensland Rail's accreditations as a Rail Infrastructure Manager.
In this role you will report directly into the General Manager Train Control and Planning where you will be responsible for directly leading three Train Control Trainers through visible leadership, two of which are based in Townsville whilst the third is based in Brisbane.
You will also be required to foster collaborative and close relationships with the Train Control & Planning Management Team as well as the broader Regional and SEQ Senior Leadership Teams.
This is a permanent full-time position based in either Townsville or Brisbane with some intrastate travel required.
About the Role: Develop and implement advanced training programs and safeworking strategies which are aligned with safeworking standards and evolving operational needs.Provide strategic and visible leadership within the Regional Train Control and Planning team and engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve safeworking and training issues.Oversee the execution of training and operational plans to meet regulatory standards and business goals.Act as the central coordination point for safeworking-related projects, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements and effective implementation.Lead and support trainers to ensure high-quality and consistent training delivery across both control centres.Develop and implement audit tools and evaluation practices to measure training effectiveness and safeworking compliance.Provide expert advice of safeworking practices, resource management and operational issues.Lead efforts to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, safety performance and overall effectiveness.Lead thorough investigations into rail safety incidents, ensuring comprehensive analysis and actionable recommendations.About You: High level of skill at recognising, developing and implementing compliance and development training.Extensive and proven knowledge of rail operations, Queensland Network Rules and Procedures, and Safeworking practices.High level of skill in leading, planning, implementing and integrating operational strategies.High level of project management skills, including change management and stakeholder management.High level of interpersonal, consultation and negotiation skills.Hold a current TAE40110 Cert IV Training and Assessment.Benefits that Count All that Queensland Rail achieves each day relies on the hard work and talent of our teams.
