In this role, you will lead a team of over 65 legal and administrative staff at our Dandenong office, including Deputy Managing Lawyers and Administrative Services Managers. You'll provide strong leadership, foster a positive work environment, and enhance client services.
Your responsibilities include developing Regional Office Plans, building stakeholder relationships, and representing Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) at community events.
As the Regional Manager, you will oversee a multidisciplinary practice that includes roles such as the Information and Referral Officer, the Independent Mental Health Advocates, Independent Family Advocacy and Support Advocates and the Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer. This involves engaging closely with program areas across VLA to maximise collaboration, service enhancements and client referrals.
Some travel may be required for stakeholder management and training at our Head Office.

Proven leadership and people management experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team. Substantial legal practice experience in criminal, family, or civil law. Strong strategic planning skills and the ability to identify and address emerging trends in the justice system. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation abilities. A commitment to social justice principles, particularly regarding the issues faced by First Nations Australians. A current Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory). Don't meet every requirement?
