This senior role forms part of the core actuarial team in the Asian region and is responsible for helping to set the actuarial strategy for the region. The person in the role will work closely with the Chief Pricing Actuary, Asian Markets on predominantly traditional pricing related activities, including mortality, morbidity and other reinsurance business segments offered by RGA. Responsibilities Act as the reviewer / approver from pricing / risk perspectives for reinsurance quotations and pricing basis in the region, and provide guidance / feedback to the local pricing teams when needed Initiate and perform research on latest industry trends / developments to support development of pricing basis Lead experience study experts in the regional office and provide technical support across RGA Asia as required Identify opportunities and provide business support on initiatives that optimize management of local and regional offices from pricing, capital or in-force management perspectives Provide thought leadership and strategic insights within the region on actuarial matters Act as Local Chief Pricing Actuary for across RGA Asia as required Provide support on in-force management projects or transactions as required Participate in internal (e.g. with Corporate Pricing) and external actuarial community meetings to represent RGA Asia Act proactively to identify emerging areas of risk and propose appropriate controls and actions Provide training or instruction which familiarizes new Chief Pricing Actuaries with Corporate and Divisional pricing standards and practices Support the development and roll-out of pricing best practices across Asia Requirements Qualifications & Experience: Accreditation as a fellow or associate in a globally recognized actuarial association (e.g. U.S., Canada, Australia, UK or equivalent) 15+ years full-time work experience (or equivalent) in life insurance or reinsurance Proficient with AXIS With lesser experience required by the role, the successful candidate may be recruited at a different internal grade, with training provided to develop the candidate for the next progression Persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers to resolve issues and problems Organized, delivery-orientated with the ability to proactively manage stakeholder expectations Ability to adapt to and implement new methods, proactively work towards agreed defined deadlines Ability to have flexible working hours given multiple time zones of peers and key stakeholders Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to travel internationally when required Knowledge of Asian life insurance markets and product lines Solid understanding of various Individual life insurance products Strong client service focus Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal Advanced MS Office suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access Innovative, proactive and improvement oriented Company Overview Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (NYSE: RGA), a Fortune 500 company, is a global industry leader specializing in life and health reinsurance and financial solutions that help clients effectively manage risk and optimize capital.
