We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Apprentice .
As an R&AC Apprentice with ECA: You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, including residential installations, renovations, and commercial ventures, providing exposure to a diverse range of experiences in the field.
You will be working full-time, 38 hours per week If successful, you will be completing your trade with one of our Host Employers, who will give you in-depth knowledge and guidance to help you become trade qualified.
With the support of qualified tradespeople, you can expect to: Assisting in the installation of air conditioning and refrigeration units in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Supporting senior technicians in performing routine maintenance and servicing of cooling systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
Helping troubleshoot and diagnose issues in air conditioning and refrigeration systems and making necessary repairs.
Learning to read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and specifications to understand the components and functioning of different systems.
Assisting in calibrating and adjusting control systems to maintain proper temperature and humidity levels.
Learning to handle and work with refrigerants safely and in accordance with environmental regulations.
Maintaining accurate records of work performed, including service reports, equipment inspections, and parts inventory.
Participating in on-the-job training and attending relevant classroom sessions to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organised work area.
Collaborating with senior technicians and supervisors to learn from their expertise and gain valuable industry insights.
Any other tasks requested by the host employer Please note that the specific duties may vary depending on the host company and the nature of the projects undertaken.
As an apprentice, your main focus will be on learning and supporting experienced staff in their work while gradually gaining the skills and experience required to become a qualified Refrigeration and Air Conditioning tradesperson.
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will: Have a genuine interest in refrigeration, air conditioning, and related systems is crucial Basic knowledge of mechanical concepts and an aptitude for technical work will be advantageous Have solid mathematics and problem-solving capabilities Strong attention to detail Be able to take direction and take the safety of yourself and your team members seriously Work well with others, be adaptable to change and open to learning from experienced professionals Great communication skills Be physically fit, you can expect to do physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and working in various environments Hold a valid driver's license or be able to obtain one, as apprentices often travel to different job sites.
