About the role
Queensland Rail is seeking a dedicated and experienced Rail Safety and Accreditation Manager to support Queensland Rail manage the design, development, implementation, monitoring, and review of rail accreditation strategies to minimise and/or mitigate rail safety risks associated with the delivery of the QTMP. This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the safety and reliability of our rail network.
The Queensland Train Manufacturing Program was created to build 65 new six-car passenger trains to support South East Queensland's population and economic growth, as well as Cross River Rail and the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include
• Maintain and develop a programme of work to integrate current and future Rail Safety Legislation requirements and obligations into the QTMP.
• Actively promote a positive safety culture through regular communication, recognition programs, and collaborative engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders to build on rail safety strategies, governance procedures and where applicable, build capability.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on rail safety performance and recommendations for initiatives to improvements.
• Consult regularly with project teams and external stakeholders ensuring all parties are held accountable for meeting their commitments to achieve key program objectives.
• Monitor, evaluate, and report on safety performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

About you
• Extensive experience in rail safety, accreditation, and safety assurance.
• Strong knowledge of Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles and practices, particularly in the context of safety assurance.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team, fostering a culture of safety and collaboration.
• Proven experience working in fast-paced, complex project environments, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure.
• Experience working in an agile project environment, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and deliver results.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and persuade others.
