Psychologists – Orana Youth Justice Centre & Far West Youth Justice Community Office, Youth Justice 2 x Ongoing, Full timeLocation: Dubbo – Orana Youth Justice Centre (Custodial) and Far West Youth Justice Office (Community)Psychologist, Salary ($74,302 - $130,530 pa), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading & Environmental allowance.The Department of Communities and Justice acknowledges lived experience and how it contributes to the valuable work we do with the community. Your role Youth Justice is looking for two innovative and dynamic Psychologists to join our Psychology and Allied Health Services team in the Orana Youth Justice Centre and/or connected to the Far West Youth Justice Community Team. Working as part of a team you will:
Advocate for the psychosocial health needs of Aboriginal Young people, their families and community in a holistic and culturally sound manner.Operate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering psychological assessment, intervention, and therapeutic services.Provide a consultancy service to staff regarding the psychological needs of Youth Justice clients within custodial and community locations, as well as advice to statutory authorities such as the Parole Board.What you'll do Undertake psychological assessment, intervention, and deliver therapeutic services or programs to young people who offend, including those who sexually offend.Create holistic treatment plans to support the needs of young people, their families and community.Assist in the formulation and review of individual Risk - Needs - Responsivity based case plans for the management and supervision of young people on remand or sentenced to a custodial or community order.Engage with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations in a respectful and collaborative manner.Liaise with a range of professionals including Aboriginal Caseworkers, Aboriginal Practice Officers, the YJNSW Aboriginal Strategic and Co-ordination Unit, Koori Children's Court, Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers.Deliver training to staff, including Youth Justice Caseworkers, in the screening, identification and support of young people with mental health problems, intellectual disability or cognitive impairment.Maintain confidential documentation, including electronic Case Notes on Client Information Management System, in accordance with departmental policies, APS guidelines on record keeping and professional ethics.Prepare reports, advice, and consultation to statutory authorities such as Children's Courts, the Serious Young Offenders Review Panel, State Parole Authority, and Mental Health Review Tribunal.Be dynamic and able to think on their feet.Responsive to individual needs and situations.What we're looking for Minimum four-year accredited qualification in psychologyCurrent provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of AustraliaA current Drivers' Licence with ability and willingness to travel throughout NSWCurrent NSW Working with Children Check clearanceAppointments are subject to reference checks.
