The Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) is responsible for the provision of comprehensive multidisciplinary mental health assessment and treatment services for the different and varying needs of older people with mental illness.
This forms part of a spectrum of specialised health services for older people.
Specialised expertise is required in the assessment, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of people who have a mental illness or disorder, when it is complicated by problems and illnesses related to ageing.
Permanent Part Time – 40hrs per fortnight The purpose of this role is to conduct high-level clinical/neuropsychological assessments, and brief interventions beyond routine level of practice responding to consumers and their families/carers who are impacted by acute/severe mental health problems within a multidisciplinary team in the Older Persons Community Mental Health Service (OPCMHS).
This role undertakes duties of a complex and varied nature with clinical decisions based on valid and reliable evidence and is recognised as a reference point for other clinicians in the team.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following: Ability to provide high quality evidence-based clinical/neuropsychology assessments, therapy, and interventions to older persons with psychiatric disorders in the context of the biopsychosocial aspects of ageing.Ability to work collaboratively with consumers and their families, carers and other service providers and other mental health teams/services within a strong recovery framework and in achieving identified consumer outcomes.Ability to provide clinical practice supervision to less experienced psychologists and students on postgraduate placement in accordance with the PsyBA guidelines.Investment to a service (including team and discipline) through identified contributions resulting in improved service provision, better consumer outcomes and discipline specific activities.West Moreton Health is one of the most rapidly evolving health services in the south east corner, with a community growth expected to almost double to more than 588,000 by 2036.
