APS 6 Project Support
Perform and achieve complex project work within an integrated workforce. Exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. Respond to information requests by preparing necessary documentation. APS 6 Project Scheduler
Respond to information requests, to include supporting governance forums and committee functions by preparing necessary documentation, coordinating schedules, and ensuring that all governance-related activities are carried out efficiently and effectively. Perform other PMO and business support tasks as required, including assisting with administrative duties, coordinating team activities, and supporting special projects to enhance overall PMO performance. Develop and maintain program/project activities through an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). Coordinate with Program Directors, Mission Leads, and relevant staff to update and manage the IMS, ensuring all tasks, resource allocations, and milestones are accurately captured. Develop and maintain the Branch Risk Register, regularly engaging with Program Directors, Mission Leads, and Mission Risk Leads to update and capture program risks, develop risk strategies and mitigations, and assist in developing risk assessment artefacts for projects. Provide regular reports and insights to executives on program and project gaps, risks, issues, and opportunities, reporting status and top risks/opportunities/issues, and developing a process for how Program Delivery Risks will flow into the Enterprise Risk Register. Ensure accurate and timely program and project budgets through regular tracking, financial management, and monthly reporting. Engage with Program Directors & relevant external stakeholders (e.g., Defence Science & Technology Group and Defence Finance Group) regularly to update and capture finances, budgets, variance, and forecasting for the program and project. Support the effective use and control of financial resources of the PMO. Analyse and reconcile complex financial data to support reporting and decision-making, including forecasting. Provide analysis on data through regular reporting including development of artefacts as needed. Analyse and reconcile complex financial data to support reporting and monthly dashboard on key financial metrics related to program performance, budget, forecast, outcomes, etc. Provide estimating and cost forecasting guidance and advice for programs and missions, to assist with the development of costings (P50 & P80) as required. Since launching on 1 July 2023, ASCA is playing a part in the most significant reshaping of defence innovation in decades, designed to deliver vital capabilities for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
Priorities are delivered through three programs: Missions, Innovation Incubation, and Emerging Disruptive Technologies (EDT).

The ASCA Capability Delivery Branch (CDB) Program Management Office (PMO) is the central hub for portfolio, program, and project management practices across the organisation.
Our primary role is to ensure cohesion within the CDB enterprise by standardising practices and requirements, driving efficiency, and allowing flexibility for unique program needs.
We support leadership and directors in achieving ASCA capability outcomes and strategic objectives by providing standardised processes, governance, performance analytics, risk management, and reporting.
Additionally, the PMO manages the project management matrix, coordinating resource allocation across delivery directorates.
By fulfilling these functions, the CDB PMO enhances transparency, supports informed decision-making, and improves overall branch and program efficiency, contributing directly to the success of the ASCA mission.
