Who we are
The BOD Data & Automation (BDA) section oversees the division's investment in, and adoption of, automation solutions that increase efficiency and accuracy, and improve staff experience. The section also delivers divisional data capability including reporting and analysis that connects decision makers to insights that better inform their decisions. These capabilities are supported by project management frameworks and business analysis. The projects team works with teams in Biosecurity Operations Division to understand business problems and connects business areas with technical specialists.
The Job
The Project Officer will take a lead in business engagement, project planning and managing the delivery of biosecurity data and automation related projects. The successful applicant will need to manage projects and change, while contributing to business planning and decision-making processes. They will also be required to demonstrate leadership while providing support to and leading project teams. Depending upon the role, duties may include all or some of the following:
• Managing the delivery of biosecurity data and automation related projects.
• Leading project planning, including stakeholder engagement, business analysis and requirements gathering.
• Developing and delivering project artefacts including project plans, business cases and other supporting documents as needed.
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with business partners based on trust by understanding and anticipating their needs.
• Identifying and delivering key opportunities and deliverables for biosecurity data and automation.
• Effectively coordinating and managing project risks and benefits.
• Bringing a flexible and responsive approach to project delivery.
• Developing and delivering briefing materials.
Please note that while this recruitment process will initially be used to fill one vacancy. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the division where the duties are of a similar nature.

What we are looking for Knowledge and experience
The successful applicant will ideally have:
• experience in project management, business change management and implementation, including planning, objective setting, timeline management, and risk identification and mitigation
• experience in engaging with stakeholders and building strong working relationships to influence and achieve business outcomes
• experience in drafting and maintaining project artefacts
• high level writing skills with demonstrated experience delivering a range of written products including project documentation and briefings for senior executives
• understanding of technologies and tools used in data analysis and reporting and/or robotic process automation is not necessary but highly regarded.
