Project Officer – Children and Families – Family Life About Archdiocese of Brisbane The Archdiocese of Brisbane is a dynamic Catholic community in Southeast Queensland.
Led by Archbishop Mark Coleridge, we support 50,000 regular mass goers across our worshipping communities, 77,000 students across our schools and 120,000 people across our support services.
About the Role: Evangelisation Brisbane is seeking a dedicated and passionate Project Officer to join the Children and Families team.
This role is integral to our mission of helping children and families encounter Jesus, find a welcoming home in the Church, and experience the joy of the gospel.
You will contribute to key initiatives outlined in the 2020-2024 strategic plan, as well as the upcoming 2025-2027 plan, with a focus on supporting families' engagement with faith both at home and in their parish communities.
Inspired by Amoris Laetitia, your primary objective will be to encourage, equip, and support families to live their faith and engage in parish life, while fostering a culture of inclusion and community.
This role will also network with organisations that provide marriage preparation and enrichment, as well as collaborate with other teams and agencies to deliver on Evangelisation Brisbane's whole-of-agency initiatives.
Role Objectives: Encourage and support families to actively engage in their faith at home and in their parishes.
Create and promote resources for faith formation and support within the community.
Network with organisations to provide marriage preparation, enrichment, and support.
Foster a culture of welcome, inclusion, and Christ-centred community in parishes.
Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Children and Families team to promote a welcoming and inclusive Church environment for families, including those facing challenging circumstances.
Create and deliver training, formation, and resources to support parishes in welcoming families and preparing them for sacramental engagement.
Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clergy, pastoral associates, and school leaders.
Celebrate and promote family life through key events such as World Children's Day and World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly.
Ensure the safety and safeguarding of children, young people, and vulnerable adults in all aspects of ministry and interactions.
Actively contribute to Evangelisation Brisbane's culture of Christ-centeredness, authenticity, and innovation.
About You: A passion for supporting children and families in living out their faith.
A solid understanding of the Catholic Church's mission and values.
Experience in working with families, preferably within ministry settings.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with children, families, and diverse community stakeholders.
Strong organisational and project management skills with an ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Desirable Qualities: Undergraduate education in theology, education, or liberal arts (completed or in progress).
Creative skills in technologies such as graphic design, photography, or video editing.
Experience using social media and web-based platforms to engage communities.
Challenges: Cultivating strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including parishes, schools, and clergy.
Implementing new initiatives in a dynamic and evolving ministry context.
Balancing ministry work with frontline stakeholders while adhering to deadlines and managing multiple projects.
