Your future with ATCO Structures & Logistics The South Australian Government has announced a consortium comprising ATCO Australia and BOC, a Linde company, as the preferred partner to design the world's largest hydrogen production facility and a hydrogen power plant near Whyalla, South Australia.
The ATCO Australia and BOC consortium has committed to an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) agreement with the State Government, which will see the consortium undertake detailed project and engineering design, procurement of critical equipment, finalise contracting arrangements, and cost estimations.
There is a 368 person Temporary Construction Village requirement for the project, and ATCO Structures is canvassing to secure a Project Manager to lead the project for the accommodation village.
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager who will be responsible for bidding, planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of project works.
This camp will be essential for accommodating the skilled team required to drive Whyalla's development into a renewable energy hub.
What You Will Do Reporting to the Vice President & General Manager, WA, you will collaborate closely with the project's commercial team to track bid versus actual costs and coordinate with various trades, contractors, customers, and suppliers.
Your goal is to ensure that all site operations meet licensing, legislative, and contractual requirements while aligning with ATCO's quality and safety standards.
Specifically, you will be accountable for safe, compliant, high-quality project delivery that meets customer expectations.
More specifically, you will contribute to, and be responsible for: Experience Leading Large Modular Workforce Housing Site Installations: The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Project Managing large-scale infrastructure projects, with specific experience in modular construction, and workforce accommodation ranging from $50 million to $150 million.
This includes leading and managing a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, construction workers, subcontractors, and support staff.
Operational Coordination: Lead the coordination of trades, contractors, and employees to ensure effective site installations and resolve operational issues promptly.
Manage and Supervise the Commissioning of Utilities: including overseeing the commissioning of utility and infrastructure Civil, Hydraulic, Electrical and Data Comms disciplines.
Regulatory and Quality Compliance: Ensure all construction activities meet state licensing, legislative requirements, and quality standards expected by ATCO and clients.
Project Risk and Safety Management: Identify and manage project risks, implement safety plans, and oversee compliance with ATCO and client safety policies.
Cost and Documentation Oversight: Manage project costs against estimates, complete required documentation on time, and update stakeholders on progress and approvals.
Client and Team Engagement: Foster strong relationships across teams, subcontractors, and clients; lead operations meetings; and ensure alignment with ATCO policies and customer satisfaction, whilst acting as the primary point of contact between the client, project team, and key stakeholders.
To hit the ground running, you will bring: Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of building codes, national construction standards, and permit requirements across various building classes, with extensive prior experience in modular construction and large workforce housing camps/village installations, with experience with Tier 1 miners and EPCM organisations of the likes of BHP, RTIO, FMG, Bechtel, KBR, etc.
Project Management & Decision Making: Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and manage time effectively under tight deadlines, alongside decisiveness on critical project issues and the ability to lead construction teams to successful project outcomes.
Systems Proficiency: Ability to learn and use construction-related software and systems, with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant applications for project tracking and reporting.
Communication & Team Leadership: High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, manage conflicts, and facilitate negotiations.
Strong leadership abilities to develop and manage teams across multiple project phases.
Qualifications & Safety Compliance: A Certificate IV in Building & Construction (or working towards it), along with a Construction Induction Card (White Card), Site Supervisors Licence, and an understanding of commercial safety expectations.
Experience in managing workforce housing projects is a plus.
