Job Description
We're changing the way Australia generates its energy, are you ready for a change? The Project UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink's delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland's North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid.
The project scope includes:
500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden
330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry
220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa, up to six new substation sites
This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the team on the Copperstring Project. This role will be managing the transmission line and substations across the project.
Key Responsibilities
Manage anticipated release dates for access to work location and design information.
Facilitate any innovation concepts that can improve the project for all stakeholders.
Connect with local communities and suppliers to maximise local business involvement in the project.
Plan, execute and finalise projects for delivery to our clients.
Manage the project teams to accurately and timely deliver projects according to schedule, budget and scope.
Oversee quality control throughout the project life cycle and ensure we meet the project's objectives and deliverables.
Focus on acquiring resources and coordinating efforts of team members, ensuring that our clients' needs are delivered in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
Ensure safe and effective operation of the project through sound communication, promotion of Safety and Quality Assurance, technical assistance and sound business practices such as commercial, compliance, procurement, human resources and financials.
Qualifications and Experience
Extensive Project Management experience working within the utilities infrastructure sectors focusing on power, particularly High-Voltage Transmission Line and substation projects.
Relevant project management accreditation equivalent to Australian Institute Project Management (AIPM), PMBOK, Diploma, engineering, PMP or equivalent.
Strong understanding of construction principles in a multi-discipline contracting environment.
High level of business and commercial acumen with the ability to create, read, and interpret budgets, financial statements and analyse variance reports.
10 years of project management experience or equivalent.
Management of multidisciplinary projects and project teams.
Financial and commercial management including cost reduction and meeting budgets.
People and performance management including the performance of subcontractors.
Client relationship and stakeholder management.
Management of projects up to $100m.
Experience as Project Manager and/or Project Engineer.
Experience in managing a variety of contracts, e.g., Joint Ventures, Alliances, Design & Construct.
Pre-contracts experience in managing tenders as a Bid Manager for a range of projects.
