The Project

The M80 Ring Road Alliance (comprising ACCIONA, MACA, and AECOM) has been selected to design and construct the M80 Ring Road Completion.

The project will deliver a major upgrade of the M80 Ring Road between the M80-Plenty Road interchange and the North East Link tunnel entrance at Watsonia, providing a seamless connection to North East Link. Works includes the construction of 14 kilometres of new lanes, bulk earthworks, retaining walls, bridge structures, rail interface works, intelligent transport systems, urban design and landscaping. This diverse and challenging project will be complete in 2028.

The Role

The Project Asset Manager will lead and is responsible for the overall management of the Asset Management function and successful implementation and oversight of the Asset Management framework. This includes the identification of assets, the building of registers, the linking of construction records, culminating in providing this data into Client obligations and O&M manuals in the Completions-phase of the Project.

The role purpose is to enable the efficient and effective management of the Asset Management Framework culminating in successful asset handover and Project on-time Practical Completion of the Project.

Key accountabilities for the position

Consultation with Returned Works owners in order to determine returnable assets of interest to them, associated relevant metadata (SRRS, other chainage, geo-coordinates, asset-specific features, etc.

Development of hierarchical Asset Naming Convention

Roll-out of Asset Management training across the Project, to ensure a general understanding for the Construction Team and Q&C Team

Creation, maintaining and general management of asset inventory/database, developed from the point that Design Packages reach IFC

Each asset element to have traceability from Work Lots into the relevant Construction Packages and Separable Portions where applicable

A hierarchical structure to be built up/created from the assets to form systems of assets; these systems combined will form the civil aspect of the Project in its entirety

Collaborate effectively with direct team and multidisciplinary teams to support the achievement of Alliance objectives

Support the development and implementation of positive initiatives to enhance the working experience for the Alliance

Required Skills and Competencies

A tertiary background ideally in engineering, construction or similar with considerable experience in a comparable role supporting a large infrastructure project

Proficient skills in quality management software and experience building and maintaining assessment management systems and process

Highly developed communication skills and able to build proactive and effective relationships across the alliance

Ability and willingness to adapt, quickly learn and use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing structure, process, information and/or technology
