Program Manager – Treaty

The Treaty Program Manager will lead the delivery of the Taungurung Treaty project plan. This includes the formation of the Taungurung Treaty Delegation, engaging legal counsel, the development of legal strategy, and providing programmatic support to the Taungurung Treaty Delegation. The role will also coordinate the engagement within TLaWC and the Taungurung community to prepare for Treaty negotiations.

Status: 12 months fixed term Full Time
Location: Broadford with flexible arrangements available at TLaWC

Key Duties

Responsible for the delivery of Treaty progression within the Treaty Readiness project
Lead the development of the Treaty Delegation
Engage legal counsel and support the development of legal strategy
Establish governance processes and refine the TLaWC decision-making guide in the context of Treaty, including documenting community authorisation processes
Support the development of contract agreements with specialists/legal counsel to deliver Taungurung self-determined Treaty
Lead engagement with the First Peoples Assembly, Treaty Authority, and Treaty partners
Support engagement with the Taungurung community on Treaty matters, including:

Providing a single point of contact for Treaty matters and agreement-making processes
Information collation, sharing, and providing an avenue for the Taungurung community to raise questions, issues, and concerns
Support the Taungurung representative on the Assembly to undertake their duties as an Assembly representation
Support pathways for the Taungurung community to share information, raise questions, and have a voice in Treaty-related matters
Actively seek funding to support Treaty progression and related nation-building activities
Support the Working Group with co-development and co-delivery of Cultural safety
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and work instructions to support a safe work environment for all staff
Comply with IP and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property guidelines and policies
